Ready for Wherever the Ride Takes Us
FEND has always been about more than making a helmet that folds. It's about the community that rides.
We believe cities are better when people are out in them: riding to work, meeting friends, running errands, or simply choosing a bike or e-bike instead of a car. As more of us move through cities on two wheels, we have an opportunity to build a culture around riding that values freedom, convenience, and safety together.
That's the community we want FEND to be part of: riders who are ready to go, who look out for themselves and one another, and who see being prepared as part of enjoying the ride.
Every so often, we hear from someone in that community whose ordinary ride took an unexpected turn.
When an Ordinary Ride Suddenly Isn't
One rider had been cycling for more than 25 years without a serious accident when they crashed and hit the pavement head-first at speed. After being evaluated in the emergency room, the rider reported no brain injuries, although the crash resulted in a fractured pelvis. Their review was simple: "My FEND helmet saved my life."
Dr. Joe, a 72-year-old daily Citi Bike rider in New York City, was clipped by an e-bike delivery rider traveling the wrong way in the bike lane. He ended up in urgent care with a possible broken rib, while his FEND was scratched and lost its rear light. His assessment: it "protected this 72-year-old head beautifully."
Sara S. also contacted FEND after an accident, reporting "no head injuries or concussions." Another rider lost control on a wet morning when leaves and sticks caused the bike to slide. After hitting the pavement, the rider wrote that the helmet had "saved my teeth and my noggin." The title of the review was even more direct: "saved my life!"

No one starts a ride expecting one of these stories to become theirs. We ride because it connects us to our cities, gets us where we need to go, and, often, because it's simply a great way to move through the world.
